Summary: I climbed Pico Mogoton in December 2009 with local guide Roberto Castellanos in one day. It is a somewhat remote mountain, with some pathfinding and scrambling required over boulders in a riverbed and up steep slopes through the underbrush. The area near the top has been mined some time ago due to a border dispute between Nicaragua and Honduras, another reason not to venture into this territory without a guide.
The climb is described in the Blog post ‘Summit on Pico Mogoton‘.

Hi, great website & blogs…my girlfriend and I are climbing all of the central american peaks. We’ve just done Baru as we write. We also climbed Mogoton with Roberto, great guy. We’re trying to find your book on iTunes…cant find it under panama or panamerican peaks though???
David (UK) & Maria (Mexico)
Hi David and Maria,
You should find it in the iBookstore under “panamerican peaks” or my name (Thomas Laussermair). Not sure whether iTunes allows searching for books as well – it probably just redirects to iBookstore. It’s on sale in 50 countries, including Panama and Costa Rica, for example, as well as most countries of Central America. But perhaps when you tried you were in a country where it’s not on sale? At least you should be able to follow the link on my website and see the description.
Good luck on your Central American Peaks project!
Cheers, Thomas.
